The History of National Coffee Day:
National Coffee Day is celebrated in India on 29th September. This day is celebrated to recognise this beverage’s heritage, promote its cultural significance in Indian society and build awareness of the challenges faced by Indian farmers. India is one of the top producers of coffee in the world and in many ways, this day is marked to commemorate the contribution of our farmers.
International Coffee Day was officially launched on 1st October 2015, by the International Coffee Organisation, as an attempt to create awareness of the plight of coffee farmers worldwide and build fair trade practices to ensure its sustainability.
Even though the consumption of coffee is increasing all over the world, the conditions of the farmers, who work tirelessly to produce this magical crop, continue to remain arduous. Through this initiative, the organization has been able to provide technical assistance and economic sustainability to farmers in developing countries. It has also done some commendable work in the field of environmental protection.
