What does it mean to "share photos"?
ZoomIn allows you to share any photo in your ZoomIn account with friends and family - absolutely FREE. When you invite friends to see your online photos, we send an email invitation to them on your behalf. The email contains the following:
- The name of the Album shared
- Step-by-step instructions on how to view your shared Album
- A personalized message (if you wish)
Your friends click on a link within the email, which takes them to the ZoomIn website. If they don't already have a ZoomIn account, they'll be asked to create one by providing their email address and selecting a username and password. This ensures the privacy of your photos by creating new ZoomIn accounts for your friends, with viewing privileges for just the photos you invited them to see. In addition to being able to see all of your shared photos, your friends can easily order their own reprints or enlargements at no cost to you.
Who can I share my photos with?
You can share your photos with anyone who has an email address and can see Web pages.
Can I share more than one Album at a time?
No. Currently you will need to share each Album individually.
Are there any email attachments involved when I share photos?
There are no email attachments sent from the ZoomIn website when you share an Album. The pictures your friends see are securely stored in the ZoomIn computer system, and they are viewed on the ZoomIn website.
When your friends receive the share invite email from you, they will click on a link that brings them to the ZoomIn website. If they don't already have a ZoomIn account, they'll be asked to create one by providing their email address and selecting a username and password. From there, they will view only the photos you have chosen to share with them.
Can I write a personal message or change anything in the invitation?
You can write a personal message to be included in the email sent to your recipients when you invite them to see your photos. The instructions on how to see your photos cannot be changed.
How can I see who I've shared my Albums with?
- Sign in to your ZoomIn user account
- From the "My Albums" page, click on the "Shared" or "Share Album" link to the right of the Album
- In the right column you'll see a "Shared with" list that includes all people you've invited to view your Album, as well as the status of their viewing
Once I've shared an Album, what can my friends do with it?
By signing in to their ZoomIn account or creating a new account, your friends can see the Album anytime, plus order reprints and enlargements of any pictures they choose. Your friends cannot move, edit, re-caption, or delete the photos within your Album. As the Album owner, only you have the ability to make changes to your Album.
Can people I share with order reprints? Who pays for them?
Yes, anyone you share an Album with can order reprints on their own, at no cost to you! When they order reprints, they will submit their own billing information. You will never be charged for an order that someone else places.
What do you do with the names of people I photos share with?
The email addresses are added to your ZoomIn Address Book, so you can share Albums again without having to re-type email addresses. ZoomIn will never use the email address of anyone you share with in any way other than to send an email invitation to share the Album you selected.
If I share an Album and then make changes to it, can my friends see the changes?
Yes. You still own your Album; your recipients just have an invitation to see it. When you make any changes to your Album, your invited recipients will see the same changes the next time they view it.
When I share an Album, can other people make changes to it?
No. Only the Album's original owner can make changes to the Album.
If I share an Album and then choose to delete it, can invited friends still see the Album in their own accounts?
No. After you delete an Album, the recipients you have invited to see the Album will no longer be able to see it.
I've shared an Album, but don't want anyone to see it anymore. What can I do?
- Sign in to your ZoomIn user account
- From the "AlbumView" page, click on the "Share Album" section on the right of the photos
- In the right column you'll see a "Shared with" list that includes all people you've invited to view your Album
- Click the "x" next to the name of anyone you'd like to restrict from viewing your album
- You can also choose to delete the entire album, making it impossible for anyone to view it, including you
- If your album was made ‘public’ then you will need to change it to private to prevent users from viewing it.
When I share photos with someone, do they have access to my account and other Albums?
No. When you share an Album with a friend, only that specific Album can be seen by your friend. The Album is viewed in your friend's own password-protected account on the ZoomIn site. The only person with access to your account is you. Your friends create their own accounts by typing in their email addresses and selecting usernames and passwords. From their accounts, they will have viewing privileges only for the Albums you shared with them, and any Albums that they create themselves.
Can the public see my photos?
No, if you have not made your photos or albums public then only people who see your photos are those people who receive an email invitation from you. For more information on how we protect the privacy of your photos, see our Privacy Policy.
What is Re-Sharing?
"Re-sharing" makes it easy for friends you trust to share these photos again with their friends. Please use this only when sharing with friends you trust completely as they will be able to then share these photos with their own group of friends. If you are unsure, its best to leave "Re-Sharing" off. The friends you have shared with will not be allowed to "Re-share" again.
